Job summary

Smith College in Northampton, MA, is seeking a grounds maintenance professional to uphold the health and aesthetics of the campus landscape, including turf, plant beds and irrigation systems.

You will operate equipment, apply pesticides per regulations, and maintain grounds across the campus while adhering to OSHA safety practices and college policies. A CDL Class B, pesticide and hoisting licenses are required or must be obtained within six months. Strong customer service is essential.

Qualifications

• Must have valid CDL Class B or obtain within 6 months of hire.
• Must have valid driver’s license and DOT credentialing requirements.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and 90 lbs occasionally.
• Must pass background check and have pesticide and hoisting licenses or obtain within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Mow lawns and operate power equipment.
• Apply pesticides per regulatory requirements.
• Maintain campus grounds including irrigation and drainage.
• Repair irrigation systems and turf areas as needed.
• Operate college vehicles and drive safely.
• Provide back-up staffing as necessary.
