Job summary

BALL-CHATHAM CUSD #5 is seeking a Substitute Groundskeeper to help maintain an attractive campus environment and support daily operations. The role involves performing duties of the regular Groundskeeper and following district policies under supervision.

The substitute will operate grounds equipment, assist with landscaping, irrigation, snow removal, and basic repairs while ensuring safety and compliance with regulations. Strong communication and reliable driving record are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year experience in grounds maintenance.
• Valid Illinois drivers license with acceptable driving record.
• Ability to pass fingerprint background check.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to work schedule and supervisor instructions.
• Plants shrubs, trees and flowers; prunes trees and shrubs; removes debris.
• Waters trees, shrubs and lawns; performs irrigation activities and maintenance.
• Operates lawn mowers, edgers, hand tools and utility vehicles; hauls trash and debris; may tow trailers.
• Performs minor maintenance and repairs on equipment and tools; assists in parking lot maintenance.
