Job summary

Girard College in Philadelphia, PA is seeking an experienced groundskeeper to maintain the College grounds. This full-time role runs Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM and includes a wide range of lawn care, landscaping, and outdoor maintenance tasks.

You will operate mowers, trimmers, backhoe, tractors, and snow equipment, perform irrigation setup, leaf removal, planting, and seasonal decorations while keeping facilities safe and presentable.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Able to read and understand equipment manuals, SDS, and safety labels.
• Mandatory snow removal duty.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Able to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, bend, carry, push and pull to perform duties.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Prior grounds keeping experience and equipment operation experience.

Responsibilities

• Cuts lawns with push and zero-turn mowers.
• Trims and edges around walks and beds.
• Prunes shrubs and trees; removes damaged limbs.
• Irrigation setup and maintenance; ensure efficiency.
• Collects leaves; disposes of yard waste.
• Cleans grounds and manages litter using equipment.
• Shovels snow; operates plow and salt spreader.
• Plants and waters grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs.
• Maintains playing fields and prepares for games.
