Job summary

University of Wisconsin-Madison is seeking a Construction Crew Supervisor to lead a nine-person grounds team in the Physical Plant Grounds department. The role oversees hardscape and landscape maintenance, coordinates with vendors, and manages high-profile projects such as Hagenah Fountain and Lot 60 pier.

You will plan and execute the snow removal program to keep campus safe and accessible year-round, working with partners across FP&M and external teams.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading teams or supervising employees for at least one year.
• Experience in landscape, hardscape, or outdoor facilities maintenance and operations for at least one year.
• Experience performing or managing professional snow removal services for at least one year.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and other workplace technology applications.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills in a collaborative environment.
• Driver’s license required – valid and meets UW Risk Management standard.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Class A CDL within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Respond to customer safety needs regarding snow removal during scheduled and non-scheduled hours.
• Supervise, hire, transfer, promote, and manage conduct and performance for at least 2.0 FTE employees.
• Develop and schedule unit operational work plans.
• Plan and implement maintenance of campus concrete, asphalt, gravel paths, and retaining walls.
• Oversee maintenance of equipment used by staff and assist in procuring new equipment.
• Schedule logistics and secure resources for completed projects.
• Plan and implement maintenance for fences and signs.
• Communicate unit goals, implement policies, and provide training to ensure safety and compliance
