Job summary

Northwest Shoals Community College is seeking a Maintenance Employee to perform entry-level grounds keeping and general maintenance support across campus facilities. You will assist with outdoor upkeep, basic facility tasks, and manual labor under close supervision.

The role involves landscaping, lawn care, cleaning, moving materials, and operating basic equipment. A high school diploma or GED is preferred, with prior maintenance or custodial experience advantageous.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum of one year of documented maintenance related work experience preferred.
• Minimum of a short-term certificate in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or related field preferred.
• Experience in lawn care and custodial duties preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs grounds maintenance duties including landscaping, lawn and plant care, and leaf removal.
• Assists with tree and shrub maintenance as directed.
• Maintains outdoor areas including sidewalks, parking lots, and building exteriors.
• Operates basic equipment such as lawn equipment and floor buffers as assigned.
• Cleans and maintains equipment used by maintenance staff and reports malfunctions.
