Job summary

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College is seeking a Grounds Maintenance worker to uphold lawn maintenance across the campus, ensuring a professional and well-kept appearance under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor. The role involves outdoor work and routine lifting.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED and demonstrated competency with lawn equipment, plus a valid driver's license. The position requires flexibility in schedule and location across college campuses.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Competency with lawn maintenance equipment (mowers, weed eaters, trimmers).
• Able to lift, stand, twist, push and pull for most of the shift (67-100%).
• Lift loads of 20-50 lbs routinely.
• Active and valid Driver’s license required and in good standing.
• Ability to work overhead outdoors, with or without ladders, for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Maintain grounds daily to ensure a professional appearance.
• Apply chemicals to grounds following safety guidelines.
• Keep inventory of lawn supplies and maintain grounds equipment.
• Report safety issues or unusual incidents on college grounds.
• Maintain a professional uniform and appearance at all times.
• Provide courteous and timely responses to requests for assistance.
• Adhere to all college policies and procedures.
• Assist with grounds maintenance at other campuses as needed.
• Flexible schedule and location may be required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
