Job summary

South Georgia Technical College in Americus, GA is seeking a Groundskeeper to maintain campus grounds, follow design plans for planting and sod, and operate large lawn and landscaping equipment. The role requires a high school diploma or GED and entails physical tasks, outdoor work, and routine maintenance to keep the campus attractive and safe.

The position offers a full-time schedule with salary commensurate with education and experience, and reports to the Facilities Director.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of groundskeeping and basic horticultural practices.
• Knowledge of the operation, maintenance, and repair of grounds maintenance equipment.
• Oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather.

Responsibilities

• Assesses campus grounds for maintenance needs.
• Mows grass, trims weeds, and plants seeds/bulbs.
• Operates lawn mowers, edgers, and related equipment.
• Maintains grounds maintenance equipment and cleans areas.
• Provides preventive maintenance to grounds areas.
