Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College in Indianapolis is recruiting a Grounds Maintenance Custodian to keep restrooms, hallways, classrooms, and outdoor areas clean and well‑maintained. The role also supports campus facilities with logistics and grounds tasks.

Responsibilities include safety inspections, mulch maintenance, planting trees and shrubs, operating grounds equipment, seasonal snow removal, and preparing daily work logs. A high school diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license are required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct general safety inspections of the facilities and grounds.
• Apply herbicides and pesticides as needed.
• Maintain mulch beds across campus, including weeding and mulch replacement.
• Plant and care for trees and shrubs; install plants in beds and planters.
• Operate and maintain hand tools and larger grounds equipment.
• Maintain daily report records and work orders (gas receipts, logs).
• Seasonal work such as snow removal, aeration, and weeding.
• Provide back up in other department areas as needed (mail, shipping, custodial, events).
• Assist with event set-up/cleanup and loading/unloading of trucks.
