Job summary

Portledge School on Long Island seeks a Maintenance and Grounds Associate for the Facilities team. Responsibilities include maintaining athletic fields, performing outdoor maintenance, event setup, and basic repairs. The role requires readiness for snow removal and weather-related tasks, with a 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM schedule.

Two years in field maintenance and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs are essential. A valid driver's license is required, and occasional weekends/evenings may be needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years in field maintenance, groundskeeping, landscaping or facility maintenance.
• Able to work outdoors in various weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Self-motivated, dependable and detail oriented; willing to be flexible with hours.
• Valid driver's license; occasional weekends/evenings may be required.

Responsibilities

• Mow, trim, weed grounds and maintain walking paths; clean and maintain outdoor spaces.
• Perform seasonal landscaping like planting, mulching, snow removal and leaf removal.
• Assist with setup and takedown for outdoor events; respond to weather-related needs.
• Support general building maintenance: painting, carpentry, plumbing and electrical tasks.
• Monitor safety concerns and help with campus mail distribution and events setup.
