Job summary

University of Scranton is seeking a General Mechanic to perform minor electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and carpentry work for campus buildings and off-campus as assigned. This essential role includes snow removal duties and potential snow plowing with early start, and is part of the Facilities team.

Responsibilities include routine repairs, custodial tasks during emergencies, and assisting with move-in day and commencements.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of two years of experience in care and maintenance of similar facilities.
Able to lift and carry 50 pounds.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

Perform minor repairs and/or replacement of plumbing fixtures, valves and other devices as required.
Perform minor repairs and/or replacements of electrical fixtures devices and appliances as required.
Perform minor carpentry work to repair windows, doors, hardware, screens and furniture and event setups, as needed.
Assist with snow plowing and ice removal, including early start times.
Remove trash from university residential halls and student apartments on weekends as needed.
Assist with move-in day activities and commencement setups on or off campus as assigned.
Custodial work including cleaning of all university areas on an emergency basis as needed.
Set up and move furniture in student rooms, lounges and other spaces.
