Job summary

Allied Universal seeks a Security Officer for an academic institution in New York. You will staff a front desk, greet students, staff and visitors, and monitor access according to campus procedures. You will respond calmly to incidents while maintaining security and confidentiality.

Roles are full-time with a Monday–Friday schedule and a fixed morning shift. Competitive hourly pay, with benefits and opportunities for growth are offered by Allied Universal.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Subject to background check as per federal, state and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories.
• Subject to a drug screen where permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements subject to state/local laws and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service at a front desk within an educational setting by greeting students, faculty, staff, visitors, and vendors and directing them according to site-specific procedures.
• Monitor access to the location, verify visitor credentials as required, maintain visitor logs, and communicate access concerns to appropriate personnel.
• Respond to incidents, requests for assistance, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, following established emergency response activities.
• Observe front desk and lobby activity, report suspicious or unauthorized activity, and help to deter unauthorized access through a professional presence.
• Provide clear information regarding building entry procedures, campus resources, and scheduled events while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
