Job summary

The Regents of the University of California, Los Angeles Campus, seeks a Facilities Mechanic to maintain fire alarm, life-safety and electronic security systems. You will service access control, video surveillance, intrusion and panic alarms, and related low-voltage equipment.

Under supervision, you’ll inspect, test, repair, and document activities, coordinating with electricians and other UCLA trades. Strong troubleshooting and teamwork are essential in a campus environment.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform routine electrical maintenance and read blueprints.
• Knowledge of tools and safe work practices in electrical trades.
• Ability to coordinate with trades and work as part of a team.
• Strong written and oral communication, and basic math skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspection, preventive maintenance, installation, testing and repair of fire alarm and security systems.
• Document maintenance actions and manage low-voltage equipment.
• Assist with and independently perform assigned tasks under supervision.
• Coordinate with electricians and UCLA trades; communicate conditions needing assistance.
