Job summary

UCLA Facilities Management seeks a Facilities Mechanic to maintain fire alarm, life-safety, and electronic security systems across campus. You will inspect, test, troubleshoot, install, and document work on access control, video surveillance, intrusion, panic alarms, and related low-voltage equipment.

Under supervision, you’ll diagnose issues, perform preventive maintenance, and coordinate with electricians and other trades to ensure reliable system operation, safety, and campus continuity.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform routine electrical maintenance and read project specs and blueprints.
• Working knowledge of power and hand tools and safe work practices.
• Ability to coordinate with other trades and lead teams.
• Ability to read English and convey clear information and prepare reports.
• Mathematical calculation skills.
• Knowledge of electronic security systems including surveillance, access control, intrusion & panic systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance on fire alarm and security systems.
• Inspect, install, test, troubleshoot, and repair equipment.
• Document work and coordinate with supervisors and vendors.
• Assist with access control, video surveillance, intrusion and related low-voltage systems.
• Work independently or in a crew; coordinate with electricians and UCLA trades.
