Job summary

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College is seeking a Maintenance Technician responsible for operation and maintenance of all physical plant systems. The role reports to the Superintendent of Physical Plant and the Assistant Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds and requires multi-craft skills.

You will read blueprints, coordinate with contractors, perform preventative maintenance, and ensure safety and policy compliance.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in a maintenance field or 2 years in maintenance, or high school with 4 years in maintenance.
• Experience in carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, HVAC or refrigeration.
• Ability to work overhead, from a ladder, in small spaces, and lift at least 70 lbs.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to communicate effectively with college personnel and use technology for communication.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties under the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent as assigned.
• Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and vendors on campus systems.
• Read blueprints, schematics and charts.
• Complete preventative maintenance to college standards.
• Maintain required maintenance documents.
• Troubleshoot and perform general maintenance across trades as needed.
• Work weekends, holidays, evenings/nights, and standby on rotation.
• Maintain inventory of tools and equipment.
• Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Adhere to college policies.
• Other duties assigned by College Administration.
