Job summary

Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts is seeking a Facilities Manager for the second shift to oversee custodial care and maintenance across campus buildings and residence areas. The role requires organizing, supervising staff, coordinating work orders, and ensuring safety compliance.

This full-time position offers a salary of $62,000 to $65,000 per year with benefits; hours are 3pm–11pm Monday through Friday, with some weekends.

Qualifications

• Five years of facilities management experience.
• Experience supervising in a collective bargaining environment preferred.
• Knowledge of federal/state safety laws and regulations (OSHA, EPA, HAZMAT).
• Ability to develop, promote and implement plans and proposals.
• Ability to relate to others and supervise staff.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Proficient with computers and database systems for facilities management.
• Experience on a residential campus preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan the second shift maintenance and custodial care of campus buildings.
• Supervise, train, and evaluate custodial staff; manage attendance and overtime.
• Manage purchasing and inventory of equipment and supplies.
• Provide weekly reports to the Interim Assistant Director.
• Maintain timely communications regarding work status/updates.
• Develop and implement staff training programs for Maintainers.
• Prepare performance evaluations for staff.
• Address disciplinary matters per collective bargaining agreement.
• Develop and maintain service standards and evaluate staff performance.
• Conduct daily walk-throughs and inspections of campus areas.
• Respond to campus emergencies and critical incidents.
