Job summary

Sheridan School is seeking a Campus Custodian to maintain a safe and clean campus environment. The role involves routine cleaning, equipment operation, and basic maintenance to support daily activities and student safety.

Responsibilities include cleaning duties, safety checks, and assisting with event setups. The position reports to the Principal and requires physical stamina for lifting and moving supplies, with work performed on school premises daily.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipment.
• Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a cleaning schedule including floors, chalkboards, wastebaskets, windows, furniture, equipment and restrooms.
• Keep school building and grounds neat and clean, including sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, and play areas.
• Comply with local laws and procedures for trash storage and disposal.
• Assist in maintaining an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and request more if needed.
• Assist with lunchroom setup, including arranging tables and chairs.
• Perform preventive maintenance to ensure the health and safety of students and staff.
• Make minor building repairs as needed and report major repairs to the principal/custodian.
• Move furniture or equipment within the building as directed by the principal/custodian.
• Assist in setting up facilities for special events.
• Open and close the building each school day.
• Follow procedures for locking, checking, and safeguarding facilities.
• Check exit doors and panic bolts during occupancy hours.
• Inspect machines and equipment for safety and efficiency.
• Operate tools and equipment according to safety procedures.
• Follow safety procedures to perform duties including lifting and climbing.
• Report unsafe conditions to supervisor immediately.
