Job summary

NC State University's Facilities Maintenance Technician – Journey Level will perform skilled maintenance, installation, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC, piping, insulation, plumbing, steam, and other building mechanical systems across campus in Raleigh.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid NC driver’s license, and the ability to work overtime or on-call as needed. Strong hands-on mechanical skills and safety focus are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
• Experience in the trade areas related to the assignment may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled maintenance and repairs on HVAC, piping, insulation, plumbing, steam, and related building systems.
• Install, maintain, and repair plumbing fixtures and secondary electrical components up to 600 VAC, including associated tests for leaks.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues, collaborate with other trades, and follow safety procedures and university standards.
