Job summary

Union College is seeking a Building Maintainer to oversee campus facility maintenance and safety. The role requires performing plumbing, electrical, and structural repairs, and routine utilities checks to ensure a secure environment.

Work is Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m., 40 hours per week, Schenectady, NY. A valid NY driver’s license, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and flexibility for occasional weekend tasks are essential. Non-exempt, full-time status with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Two years of general maintenance experience in large educational, healthcare, or residential complex.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• A valid New York State Driver’s License.
• Ability to understand written and verbal instructions.
• Must be safety conscious.
• Physical capability to lift and move up to 50 pounds; standing, walking, bending.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on plumbing, electrical, and structural fixtures.
• Read meters and ensure proper functioning of utilities for safe operations.
• Assist with furniture moving and set-up tasks; support logistics and team collaboration.
