Job summary

Huntsville Botanical Garden is seeking a Building Maintenance Manager to lead facilities maintenance and services across the 118-acre campus. You will oversee HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems, guide a team, and coordinate contractors to ensure safe, reliable operations and exceptional visitor experiences.

The role reports to the Director of Facilities & Operations and requires strong leadership, budget awareness, and a proactive approach to preventive maintenance and capital projects.

Qualifications

• Six+ years of progressively responsible experience in building maintenance and facilities management with supervisory duties.
• Broad practical knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing) and troubleshooting capabilities.
• Ability to coordinate contractors, prioritize needs, and communicate effectively with staff and vendors.
• Valid driver's license; annual MVR review.

Responsibilities

• Lead facilities maintenance and services operations, including building systems, repairs, event support, and custodial services.
• Supervise maintenance and services staff, including scheduling, performance management, and development.
• Develop team capabilities through coaching and cross-training to improve readiness.
• Oversee work orders, prioritize tasks, and coordinate with projects and events.
• Ensure timely completion of work through guidance, inspections, and direct technical support.
• Manage vendor and contractor relationships, scope development, procurement, and scheduling.
• Assist with capital projects and interdepartmental facilities support.
