Job summary

State University of New York Cortland is hiring a Facility Operations Assistant 1, SG 6, in the Custodial department. The role focuses on cleaning duties in residence halls and campus buildings, with occasional snow removal, lawn care, and light maintenance tasks.

The schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with duties expanding to furniture setup and event support, light fixture upkeep, and exterior sidewalk care as needed. A NYS driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• No education or experience requirements; labor class position.
• Must possess a valid New York State Driver's License.
• Physical strength and agility to lift/carry and work on ladders.
• Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• General Cleaning: clean, wash, vacuum, and maintain floors and areas across buildings.
• Furniture Coordination and Event Support: move and set up furniture for events and relocations.
• Lighting and High Areas: clean light fixtures and replace bulbs in high places.
• Maintenance and Grounds: assist with snow removal, sidewalks, and minor maintenance tasks during seasons.
