Job summary

University of Lynchburg, a private regional university in Central Virginia, seeks an Executive Director of Facilities Management for a 100% on-site leadership role.

The leader will oversee strategic direction, operational management, and capital projects across Environmental Services, Grounds, Maintenance, and Logistics. Requires 7–10 years in facilities leadership, CMMS experience, and strong budget skills.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years of progressive leadership experience in facilities management or physical plant operations.
• Budget management, vendor contracts negotiation, and resource allocation experience.
• Proficiency with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).

Responsibilities

• Strategic Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive strategic plans for campus infrastructure and maintenance.
• Leadership and Management: Provide executive leadership to the Facilities Management team and supervise staff.
• Regulatory Compliance & Safety: Ensure campus compliance with OSHA, EPA, ADA and fire/life safety codes.
• Policy Development: Create policies for preventative maintenance, emergency response, and weather protocols.
• Budget Oversight: Manage budgets and vendor contracts, allocate resources and forecast finances.
• Program Development & Sustainability: Oversee energy management and major capital renovations.
• Housing Operations & Logistics: Oversee vehicle fleet, move‑in/move‑out, and office relocations.
• Collaboration and Advocacy: Liaise with other university divisions to support events and transitions.
• Data-Driven Decision Making: Use data analytics to evaluate work orders and inform capital spending.
• Community Engagement: Represent the university in local government and public works for campus plans.
