Job summary

UC Irvine's Campus Recreation seeks a Physical Plant Supervisor to lead skilled trades and oversee the Anteater Recreation Center facilities, including its stand-alone plant and aquatic plaza. You will supervise carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, electrical and painting teams, ensuring reliability and safety across all building systems.

This role requires 5–10 years in facilities management, relevant certifications, and a bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalent experience.
Certification in a specialty skilled trade and Pool & Spa Operator Certification.
5–10 years in facilities management or related trades.
Knowledge of building mechanical, HVAC and utility systems.
Experience with Energy Management Control Systems and building automation.
Strong supervisory, scheduling and safety leadership.
Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams).
Excellent communication skills in English.
Ability to manage budgets and multiple projects.

Responsibilities

Supervise crafts and trades workers across carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and painting.
Oversee maintenance, repair and operation of building systems and energy management controls.
Monitor energy efficiency and sustainability of facility operations.
Plan workflows, set priorities and ensure safety and quality standards.
