Job summary

SSC Services for Education, part of Compass Group, Staten Island, seeks a Facilities Director to oversee custodial, grounds, and maintenance operations. Lead a professional team to ensure safe, efficient campus facilities aligned with client expectations and a learning-friendly environment.

You will recruit, train, and manage staff, develop budgets, and coordinate facilities planning, while maintaining compliance with applicable laws and client requirements.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of management experience in maintenance/facilities management or other service-related field with high customer contact.
• Budgeting and forecasting experience.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a changing environment.
• Exhibits initiative, responsibility and leadership.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Strong leadership skills and track record in fast-paced settings.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, mentorship, and supervision to the facilities team.
• Promote safety, excellence, and continuous improvement through training and development.
• Inspect projects for accuracy and compliance with requirements and laws.
• Assist with long-range facility and maintenance planning and reporting.
• Oversee staffing processes including screenings and interviews.
• Train staff to meet performance and safety standards.
• Develop and manage annual department budgets and expenditures.
