Job summary

E03 Vermont State University seeks a reliable custodian to clean and maintain campus buildings, residence halls, classrooms and offices. You will perform floor care, window washing and general upkeep while supporting conference/event duties and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• High school education desirable.
• One to two years of relevant custodial experience.
• Physical ability to perform heavy custodial work and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Good basic supervisory skills.
• Ability to obtain a fleet license (unless approved by manager).

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain assigned buildings including residence halls, offices, classrooms and meeting rooms.
• Vacuum, sweep, mop, dust, wash, and buff floors and stairwells.
• Clean windows, walls, chalkboards, trash cans, furniture and fixtures.
• Dust furniture and woodwork, blinds, drapes and interior surfaces.
• Maintain bathrooms and change shower curtains; stock supplies.
• Water plants and perform general upkeep tasks for appearance.
• Perform routine maintenance on plumbing, electrical, heating and ventilating systems.
• Empty trash, recycle and remove snow around building entrances.
• Move furniture and equipment as needed and arrange in rooms.
• Coordinate specialized custodial tasks like refinishing floors and carpet shampooing.
• Keep athletic areas clean and set up gym equipment; ensure safe work environment.
