Qualifications

  • High school education desirable.
  • One to two years of relevant commercial or institutional custodial experience.
  • Physical ability to perform heavy custodial work and lift 50 pounds.
  • Good basic supervisory skills.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a small custodial crew and coordinate specialized custodial tasks like floor refinishing and carpet shampooing.
  • Act as Lead in the absence of the Custodial Supervisor.
  • Oversee duties during events, including setup and AV troubleshooting.
  • Perform routine maintenance on plumbing, electrical, HVAC systems and light maintenance.
  • Manage trash, recycling and snow removal at entrances.
  • Move furniture and arrange items for meetings and events.
  • Lead training of new employees and assign daily tasks.
  • Conduct quality inspections and report issues.
  • Assist with pool maintenance tasks including chemical regulation and backwashing.
  • Set up and take down gym equipment and maintain athletic areas.
  • Maintain safety practices around cleaning chemicals and hazards.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Clean and perform routine housekeeping and maintenance of campus buildings, including residence halls, classrooms, and administrative offices.
  • Serve as a team leader for a small crew of custodial/housekeeping staff and coordinate specialized custodial/maintenance functions such as refinishing floors, shampooing carpets, and minor painting.
  • Function as a Lead in the absence of the Custodial Supervisor.
  • Oversee custodial duties during conference or event activities, ensuring set‑up, audio‑visual equipment troubleshooting, and overall cleanliness meet schedule and instruction.
  • Perform routine maintenance on plumbing, electrical, heating, and ventilation systems, including cleaning and minor repairs of air vents and drains, plunging toilets, and replacing light bulbs.
  • Empty and relocate trash, recycling, and snow removal around building entrances.
  • Move furniture and equipment as necessary for residence halls and classrooms, and arrange items for meetings and events.
  • Lead training of new employees, issue daily work assignments, monitor progress, and manage minor personnel issues.
  • Conduct quality‑control inspections and preventive maintenance, reporting facility issues and deficiencies.
  • Assist with special swimming‑pool maintenance tasks, including vacuuming, cleaning, chemical regulation, and backwashing.
  • Set up and take down gym and sports equipment, and keep athletic areas and locker rooms clean.
  • Maintain safety procedures and handle exposure to cleaning chemicals and workplace hazards.

Compensation and Work Hours
