Principia College in Elsah, IL is seeking an Event Technical Support Manager to lead the technical support for campus events, including ceremonies and high-profile speakers. The role requires managing cash, equipment, and a student crew, ensuring proper setup, operation, and safety of audio, video, and lighting systems.

The position emphasizes staffing, training, and coordinating with other departments to ensure successful events and smooth operation of the MSC venue resources.

Qualifications

• Formal training or commensurate recent experience in electronics, sound engineering, stage lighting, and computer technology is required.
• Experience managing student crews or staff in high-visibility events is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of audio, lighting, and video support for campus events is essential.

Responsibilities

• Supports campus events with lighting and mic selection, setup, testing, and operation of audio/video equipment.
• Coordinates with Video Production Manager to integrate Zoom and streaming hardware.
• Manages Student Tech Crew, trains workers, and develops training materials and procedures.
• Hires, trains, schedules, coordinates payroll, and evaluates performance of the Student Tech Crew.
• Plans event support, run-of-show documentation, and staffing assignments for events.
• Maintains equipment inventory and ensures safe operation and storage of MSC gear.
