Job summary

Albany State University seeks an Event / Facilities Setup Technician to prepare venues for university events and move furniture and equipment across campus. You will report to the Campus Services Manager and support safety-compliant setups.

Role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and teamwork to ensure classrooms and venues are configured correctly for events. Flexibility with early mornings, evenings, and weekends is expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid State of Georgia Driver's License with a clean motor vehicle record (MVR).
• 6 months to 1 year of hands-on experience in moving, warehouse operations, or event setup experience.
• Experience with large university and/or multi-campus parking operations.
• Knowledge of safety and environmental practices.
• Sufficient verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Ability to move heavy equipment or furniture safely.

Responsibilities

• Load, transport and assemble and unload heavy furniture, office supplies, boxes, and institutional equipment to setup events, meetings and campus moves.
• Arrange tables, chairs, stages, podiums according to event diagrams and safety codes. Dismantle setups promptly after events conclude.
• Operates basic power tools and equipment needed to perform work.
• Follow safety protocols when lifting heavy objects and operating state vehicles, trucks, or utility carts.
• Interact professionally with faculty, staff, students, and external guests to accommodate last-minute adjustments to event layouts.
• Remove debris and dispose of packing materials or trash responsibly.
• Performs other duties, as assigned.
