Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin is seeking a Food Service Worker (Part-Time) to support customer service and food preparation on campus. The position offers $18.00 per hour with a $2.00 per hour shift differential for eligible evening/weekend shifts, and a 20-hour weekly schedule.

Current students enrolled at Escoffier School of Culinary Arts in Austin are eligible to apply. Applicants must complete required food safety training and operate standard kitchen equipment as part of UHD procedures.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled as a student at Escoffier School of Culinary Arts in Austin, Texas.
• Experience in food preparation in a restaurant, commercial, or institutional setting.
• Experience with operating standard kitchen equipment.
• Ability to complete and maintain Food Safety Training as required by UHD.

Responsibilities

• Serve high-quality food products and assist in short-order or made-to-order cooking.
• Read and follow recipes based on culinary standards.
• Set up, stock, and clean serving areas before and during service.
• Maintain menu and product knowledge to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Operate the POS system and process meals and payments accurately.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in dining areas and kitchens.
• Support training and guidance for new staff.
