Job summary

Auburn University seeks a Plant Operations Supervisor to lead the operation and maintenance of campus district energy systems that provide heating and cooling for the main campus and Veterinary Medicine. You will manage a team of Plant Operations Technicians, oversee budgets, procurement, and maintenance programs, and guide reliability and efficiency improvements.

Responsibilities include safety leadership, after-hours response, and collaboration with facilities divisions to meet campus needs

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 10 years of experience in maintaining, repairing, and operating thermal distribution systems.
• Valid Driver's License required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and evaluate daily operations of central plants; ensure safety, reliability, and efficiency in all plant activities.
• Direct Plant Operations technicians, assign work, coach staff and oversee timekeeping.
• Oversee corrective and preventive maintenance programs; monitor system performance for reliability.
• Model daily safety discussions and ensure compliance with codes and standards.
• Manage records, inventory, and budgeting; support procurement and purchasing documents.
• Participate in design reviews and support plant system planning and upgrades.
• Coordinate with facilities divisions, contractors, and clients to meet operational needs and minimize outages.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent
