Job summary

Occidental College is seeking an Electrician to perform maintenance on interior and selected exterior electrical systems, including lighting, under the supervision of the Trades Manager. The role involves using hand tools, power tools, meters and schematics to install, repair and upgrade electrical components across campus.

The position is full-time, non-exempt, 40 hours per week, with a 3-month term and potential extension through December 18, 2026.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED is required and technical training certificates are preferred.
Four years of progressively responsible experience in electrical trades is required.
Ability to read blueprints and schematics and to interpret electrical diagrams.
Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, wire puller and testing instruments.
Experience with 24V–480V circuits and basic lighting and panel work.
Strong safety mindset and ability to follow lockout/tagout procedures.
Proficient with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.

Responsibilities

Perform maintenance, repair, alteration and installation of interior and select exterior electrical systems including lighting.
Work with EMS/EMCS and coordinate with HVAC for energy management integrations.
Respond to trouble calls and complete preventive maintenance tasks.
