Purdue University is seeking a skilled electrical technician to perform construction, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on campus electrical systems, lighting, control circuits, and transformers.

You will respond to service calls, perform preventive maintenance, and renovate or upgrade systems as needed, with overtime and 24-hour emergency callbacks required. The role involves coordinating with the Engineering Department and potentially acting as Crew Chief.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 3+ years of experience in electrical construction, maintenance, repair, or troubleshooting.
• Ability and willingness to continue developing electrical knowledge and skills through training and education as directed.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical construction, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on university electrical systems, lighting, control circuits, ETS phones, and transformers.
• Respond to service calls and perform preventive maintenance according to established schedules.
• Perform scheduled maintenance on generators, PLCs, boulevard lighting, beacons and windsocks, and handicap-accessible doors; renovate, modify and upgrade existing systems as needed.
• Interpret blueprints and coordinate with the Engineering Department on electrical projects; serve as acting Crew Chief in the Crew Chief’s absence.
