Job summary

The University of Notre Dame is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead the planning, design, implementation, and maintenance of campus electrical systems. This role supports power distribution, lighting, controls, and high‑voltage infrastructure, ensuring compliance with NEC, NESC, and university standards.

You will coordinate with Maintenance, Design & Construction, and external partners on new construction and renovations, perform analyses, and implement design standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Seven (7) or more years of progressively responsible experience in electrical engineering, power systems, or utility infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of NEC, NESC, grounding, and national/regional electrical regulations.

Responsibilities

• Design, engineer, and support campus electrical systems including power, distribution, lighting, and control systems.
• Prepare project estimates, designs, specifications, and material procurement plans.
• Manage electrical projects from planning through commissioning with contractor oversight.
• Coordinate and supervise contractor installations for quality, safety, and compliance.
• Provide technical expertise for operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and commissioning of campus electrical systems.
• Collaborate with Maintenance, Planning, Design & Construction, campus stakeholders, architects, consultants, and contractors.
• Develop and enforce University electrical design standards.
• Review drawings and design documents for compliance with standards.
• Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Support Utilities Engineering Group in building reliable and safe campus infrastructure.
• Respond to electrical emergencies and provide technical support as needed.
