Job summary

The University of Notre Dame is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to provide engineering expertise and technical support to the Utilities & Maintenance Departments. This role supports planning, design, construction, commissioning, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of campus mechanical systems.

You will review designs for compliance, manage projects with mechanical components, and assist in emergency situations to maintain campus reliability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Seven or more years of relevant professional engineering experience.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering theory, design, operation, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of ASHRAE and OSHA codes.
  • Knowledge of Indiana Plumbing and Mechanical Code.

Responsibilities

  • Provide mechanical engineering support to Utilities & Maintenance Departments.
  • Review mechanical engineering drawings, specifications, and project documents for compliance.
  • Perform project management responsibilities for projects with significant mechanical content.
  • Coordinate with internal departments, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to support project delivery.
  • Provide engineering support during emergency situations to maintain campus reliability.
