Job summary

University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) seeks a Facilities Operator to run and maintain the Campus DES District Energy System serving medical, educational, and research facilities. The role ensures safety, comfort, and reliability for patients, students, and staff.

The position requires HVAC/power plant experience, boiler licensure, and knowledge of central plant operations. On-site duties at UAMS Campus include daily rounds and responding to facility issues.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED.
• Ability to obtain Arkansas High Pressure Boiler License within 9 months of hire.
• 1 year of relevant HVAC Systems Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering Maintenance, Power Plant Operation, Plumbing and Piping Systems, Stationary Engineer Role, Manufacturing Equipment Maintenance, or boiler operation.
• Valid Arkansas driver’s license with fewer than 12 points on their Motor Vehicle Record.
• Computer program proficiency level: Intermediate.
• Knowledge of central plant systems.
• Watchkeeping and rounding documentation.
• Boiler Operator Certification.
• 6-10 years of boiler operations experience, experience operating a District Energy Plant.
• Arkansas High Pressure Boiler License.
• Siemen’s Desigo, chiller operations.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain and repair the Campus DES District Energy System serving UAMS facilities.
• Assist with problems and emergencies related to facility issues on campus.
