Job summary

CPC (Chinese-American Planning Council) seeks a Campus Director for Education and Career Services to lead NYC DYCD-funded youth programs at New Utrecht High School. You will supervise staff, ensure program compliance, and manage budgets while delivering SEL, college and career readiness, and life-skills workshops.

Role requires a 4-year degree with 2+ years of youth program experience and supervisory capability; travel and bilingual skills are a plus. Competitive benefits offered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Work, Counseling or related field; Master’s Degree preferred
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience with High School youth in an after-school setting
  • At least 2 years in supervisory capacity in childcare or related field
  • Culturally competent and sensitive to participants’ heritage, life experiences, and identities
  • Strong work ethic and passion for working with immigrant and low-income communities
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, time management and decision-making skills
  • Knowledge of MS Office and virtual platforms such as Zoom, Teams, and Webex
  • Willingness to travel to worksites via public transportation
  • Fluency in Arabic/Chinese/Spanish a plus

Responsibilities

  • Act as a liaison between CPC and stakeholders including funding agency, school leadership, community members, and partners
  • Oversee administrative, programmatic, operational, and financial management of publicly funded youth initiatives at New Utrecht High School
  • Determine programmatic and administrative priorities for the designated campus site and identify growth areas
  • Hire, lead and support a diverse and talented team of the program staff
  • Plan and facilitate social-emotional learning, project-based learning, career-readiness, college readiness, and life-skills workshops
  • Ensure program is compliant with target enrollment numbers, deliverables, and DYCD audits
  • Administer program budget and monitor expenditures
  • Ensure proper reporting and communications with government agencies
  • Comply with DYCD policies and procedures
  • Promote a positive workplace culture; convene regular team meetings with school leadership
  • Assist the Director/Deputy Director of ECS with special projects and strategic priorities

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Education and Career Services (ECS) provides dynamic programs and activities that bridge youth and adults with their highest educational, economic and leadership potential. ECS believes it is never too early or too late to start learning, which is why we use an asset-based approach to maximize clients’ current strengths. Whether in our schools, community centers, or internship sites, ECS creates equitable learning environments that promote leadership development, self-advocacy, and community building. Our programs equip clients with essential skills and experiences today so that they are empowered to take the next step tomorrow.

PROGRAM SUMMARY
  • After-School Program (NDA/Compass High) Funded through the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD). After-School Program offers youth participants a wide range of enrichment of workshops to promote lifelong skills needed to succeed academically, socially and professionally. These workshops include but not limited to Academic tutoring, College and work readiness, Leadership development, Guest Speaker series, mentoring opportunities and recreational activities.
  • Career Ready (SYEP) Funded through the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD), SYEP Program provides students between the ages of 14 to 21 with project-based learning opportunities and paid, summer work experience for up to six weeks in July and August. Youth aged 14-15 are engaged in projects that provide enriching career exploration, emphasize foundational work readiness skills, and help build social emotional learning skills.
  • Youth aged 16-21 are placed in entry-level positions across a variety of sectors and industries. All participants are provided with workshops on job readiness, career exploration, financial literacy, continuing education and other life skills.
  • Work, Learn and Grow Program (WLG): Funded through the Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD), offers young people ages 16-19 from public schools in New York City an opportunity to strengthen work readiness skills, explore career, receive academic support, including guidance on postsecondary education and potential to earn college credits and paid internships.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Under the supervision of the Deputy Director of ECS, the Campus Director will: Act as a liaison between CPC and stakeholders, which includes funding agency, school leadership, community members, and community partners

  • Assist the Director/Deputy Director of ECS, or school leadership with special projects and other strategic priorities as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Work, Counseling or related field. Master’s Degree preferred
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience with High School youth in an after-school setting
  • At least 2 years' experience in a supervisory capacity in a childcare program or related field of work
  • Culturally competent professional committed to providing services in a manner that is sensitive to participants’ cultural heritage and traditions, life experiences, sexual orientation and gender identity
  • Strong work ethic and demonstrated passion for working with diverse populations, especially immigrant and low-income communities
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, time management and decision-making skills
  • Knowledge of MS office applications and virtual platform such as Zoom, Teams, and Webex.
  • Willingness to travel to worksites via public transportation
  • Fluency in Arabic/Chinese/Spanish a plus
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS OVERVIEW

Annual salary of $70,000-74,000, 35 hours per week with nights and weekends as needed.
