Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin is seeking a Lead Food Service Worker to support the daily operations of University Housing and Dining on the UT Main Campus. You will lead dining staff, ensure high-quality food preparation, and uphold food safety and customer service standards during fast-paced service.

You'll train staff, manage meal service assignments, operate the POS system, and monitor inventory and cleanliness.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience working and preparing food in a restaurant, commercial, or institutional facility.
• Experience training or leading staff in a restaurant, commercial, or institutional food facility.
• Experience with operating standard kitchen equipment.
• Ability to complete and maintain University Food Safety Training.

Responsibilities

• Lead dining staff by directing meal service and ensuring tasks are completed efficiently.
• Train staff on food handling, safety procedures, customer service, and station setup.
• Manage daily area work assignments for smooth workflow.
• Prepare, cook, and serve high-volume meals using kitchen equipment and follow recipes.
• Monitor food quality, portion control, sanitation, and temperature logs.
• Operate the POS system and process meals/transactions accurately.
• Track inventory, assist with ordering, and minimize waste.
