MSU College of Engineering invites applications for Shaw Culinary Platform Attendant to support dining services on campus. You will prepare, organize, and supply food items across multiple stations, ensuring safety, quality, and customer service while engaging with a diverse campus community.

Responsibilities include station prep, assisting cooks, applying food safety practices, and maintaining timely service.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent is required.
At least one year of full-time experience in food preparation.
Knowledge of kitchen safety practices.
Ability to read weights, measures and weigh/measure ingredients.
Numeracy to perform basic arithmetic with whole numbers and fractions.
Experience with various cooking methods (sautéing, frying, grilling, steaming).
Ability to use knives and standard kitchen equipment.
Ability to prepare items with proper timing for continuous service.
Occasional lifting of 26–75 pounds.
Desireable: proactive, initiative, and flexible in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

Station Prep & Organization: Set up, replenish, and maintain salad bars, hot/cold stations, and to-order service areas.
Culinary Assistance: Support cooks by combining ingredients, measuring portions, and assembling meals to order.
Food Safety and Quality: Apply proper food handling, rotation, and storage to minimize waste and spoilage.
Customer Service: Serve meals directly to students, staff, and guests with a friendly demeanor.
Team Collaboration: Work within a diverse workforce to maintain efficient dining operations.
