Job summary

Michigan State University College of Engineering is seeking a Holmes Culinary Platform Attendant to organize, prepare, and supply food items for salad bars and hot/cold stations in Holmes Hall. You will assist cooks by weighing ingredients, portioning, and serving from prepared to-order, while ensuring proper food handling and storage to minimize waste.

Work hours are Mon-Wed 1:30 p.m.–10:00 p.m., Thu off, Fri 1:30 p.m.–10:00 p.m., Sat-Sun 2:00 p.m.–10:30 p.m.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• One year of full-time food preparation experience.
• Knowledge of kitchen safety practices.
• Ability to read weights and measures and weigh ingredients.
• Ability to operate standard kitchen equipment.
• Occasional lifting of 26–75 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Organize, prepare, and supply food items for salad bars and hot/cold stations.
• Assist cooks by weighing ingredients and portioning, and by serving from prepared to-order.
• Maintain proper food handling and storage to minimize waste and spoilage.
• Serve customers in the residential dining hall and work with a diverse team.
