Job summary

Chartwells Higher Education is seeking a dynamic GENERAL MANAGER to lead the CAMPUS dining and catering at Lamar University in Beaumont, TX. You will manage a $9 million P&L, build rapport with students, faculty, guests and the client, and promote growth across the operation.

You will lead a team, drive financial performance, and integrate dining and catering across the university with a focus on quality, service and compliance. Beaumont offers a rich Texas lifestyle and culinary diversity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
• Eight to ten years upscale food service experience, including six years in management.
• Experience in personnel management including hiring, supervision, evaluation and succession planning.
• Excellent leadership and organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Supervisory, scheduling, training and coaching skills.
• Knowledge of budgets, cash handling, and financial targets.
• Knowledge of HACCP controls and proper food storage and handling.
• Strong catering experience and vendor/customer relationship skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• ServSafe certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Participates in employee meetings, reviews and training programs.
• Manages in compliance with Company policies and procedures.
• Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
• Maintains food cost while upholding quality standards.
• Establishes and maintains rapport with staff, client and guests.
• Manages financial reporting with sales reports and annual budgets.
• Analyzes financial data trends and forecasts.
• Manages purchasing and inventory controls.
• Plans menus in consultation with chefs.
• Knowledge of HACCP controls and proper food storage and handling.
