Job summary

MSU - Michigan State University invites applications for a Gallery Culinary Platform Attendant in Snyder Hall. You will prep, portion, and supply items across salad bars, hot/cold stations, and to-order areas while upholding food safety and quality standards.

Work hours include evenings and weekends with a focus on customer service and teamwork as you interact with students, staff, and guests on campus.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.
One year of full-time food preparation experience.
Knowledge of kitchen safety practices.
Ability to read weights and measures and weigh ingredients.
Ability to perform basic math with weights and measures.
Familiarity with sautéing, display cooking, frying, grilling, and steaming.
Ability to use knives and standard kitchen equipment.
Ability to produce freshly cooked items for continuous service.
Occasional lifting of 26–75 pounds.

Responsibilities

Set up, replenish, and maintain salad bars, hot/cold stations, and to-order areas.
Assist cooks by combining ingredients, measuring portions, and assembling meals.
Apply proper food handling, rotation, and storage techniques to minimize waste.
Serve meals with a friendly and welcoming demeanor to students, staff, and guests.
Collaborate with a diverse team to maintain efficient dining hall operations.
