University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy on its St. Louis campus is seeking a full-time Cook to plan, prepare and cook meals ensuring high quality and safety. The role supports a fast-paced dining operation and requires adherence to food storage and sanitation procedures.

The position is hourly, four-day work weeks year-round, with university insurance, retirement, and time off benefits. Location is UHSP main campus in St. Louis, MO; bus routes and transit access are available.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED; significant cooking experience can substitute for a degree.
• 1 year of experience as a cook.
• Experience in foodservice/food preparation.
• Ability to use various knives for trimming, prepping, or chopping meats and vegetables.
• Innovative, creative and quality-focused.
• Customer-service driven.
• Experience in institutional/contracted food service preferred.
• Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities.

Responsabilités

• Follow recipes, including measuring, weighing and mixing ingredients.
• Bake, roast, grill, steam and boil meats, vegetables, fish, poultry and other foods.
• Wash, peel, cut, and seed fruits and vegetables to prepare for consumption.
• Ensure ingredients and final products are fresh.
• Portion, arrange, garnish and present final dishes.
• Serve food to guests.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area, including handling utensils, equipment and dishes.
• Handle and store ingredients and food.
• Maintain food safety and sanitation standards.
• Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment and utensils.
• Execute opening and closing procedures.
• Set up workstations with required ingredients and equipment.
• Check the quality and freshness of ingredients.
• Monitor station inventory levels.
• Accommodate guests' special requests.
• Operate kitchen equipment such as broilers, ovens, grills and fryers.
• Substitute for or assist other cooks as needed.
• Other duties as assigned by Management.
