Job summary

University at Buffalo Campus Dining & Shops is seeking a probationary full-time union cashier to provide prompt, friendly service to students, faculty, staff and visitors. You will handle student meal cards, cash, and credit cards, and follow money and merchandising policies.

The role includes food prep, customer service, and working in high-volume dining operations, with mandatory overtime as required by the union contract. The starting rate is $17.31 per hour, and benefits are included.

Qualifications

• Minimum one-year verifiable cashier and money handling experience.
• Experience with point of sale cash register systems.
• Must speak, read, and write English and have accurate math skills.
• Ability to work in a high-volume dining operation.

Responsibilities

• Accurate cash handling and food preparation.
• Provide excellent customer service by serving customers in a friendly & courteous manner.
• Station setup, breakdown, restocking, and occasionally putting orders away.
• Keep a neat, clean, and sanitized work area.
• Must work consistently and productively during entire shift.
• General cleaning, other food service duties, and projects as requested by management.
