Job summary

Bethel University in Saint Paul, MN is seeking a University Custodian to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming campus environment. This 40-hour/week, 12-month role operates on the 1st Shift (8:00 am – 4:30 pm) with occasional overtime.

The position emphasizes teamwork, customer service, and the ability to supervise student workers and contract staff while supporting Bethel’s Christ-centered mission.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Some post-secondary coursework preferred.
• No professional experience is required.
• 2+ years of custodial experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clean and service lavatories and sanitize surfaces.
• Vacuum carpets and remove debris.
• Mop and sweep floors, stairs, and other hard surfaces.
• Lead the shift in cleaning and maintaining assigned buildings.
• Supervise and direct work of contract cleaners and student workers.
• Coordinate with 2nd shift supervisor on set-ups and coordination of responsibilities.
• Oversee the work orders for the shift.
• Schedule contract and student workers for shifts.
