Job summary

ABM Industries is seeking a reliable School Custodian to perform general cleaning duties in a K-12 or higher education campus environment. This on-site role includes cleaning classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas with attention to safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• No experience required and on the job training provided.
• No high school diploma, GED or college degree required.
• Preferred: Prior customer service experience.
• Preferred: One year of prior similar work experience.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain assigned area, which may include classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, office, and stairways.
• Sweep, remove debris, clean spills, and mop floors in designated areas.
• Regularly check trash receptacles, emptying as needed, in all designated areas.
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Notify lead cleaner or manager concerning the need for repairs or additions to building systems.
• Establish and maintain effective communication with clients, co-workers, shift coordinators, supervisors, managers.
• Collect, consolidate, and separate recycling into proper receptacles.
• Dust desks, chairs, tables, furniture, fixtures, doors, sills, floors, ceilings, and walls.
• Polish hard surfaces such as wood and stainless steel.
• Wipe and clean tabletops, chairs, and equipment in food areas.
• Move cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates and equipment to clean areas manually or with hand trucks.
• Clean interior partition glass, windows, and mirrors with cleaners and rags.
• Sweep walks, rake leaves, cut grass, remove snow or perform other seasonal tasks.
• Maintain cleanliness of restrooms and comply with safety standards.
