Job summary

ABM Industries is seeking a reliable School Custodian to perform general cleaning duties in designated areas at a K-12 school, college or university campus environment. The role involves sweeping, mopping, trash removal, and maintaining restrooms, classrooms, and common areas.

No prior experience is required; on-the-job training is provided, and ABM supports veterans and diverse candidates. This on-site position offers opportunities to contribute to safe, clean learning environments.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• No experience required; on-the-job training provided.
• No high school diploma, GED or college degree required.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain assigned area including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, and stairways.
• Sweep, remove debris, clean spills, and mop floors in designated areas.
• Regularly check trash receptacles and empty as needed in all designated areas.
• Follow procedures for using chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Notify lead cleaner or manager about repairs or additions to building systems.
• Establish and maintain effective communication with clients, co-workers, and supervisors.
• Collect, consolidate, and separate recycling into proper receptacles.
• Dust desks, chairs, tables, furniture, fixtures, doors, sills, floors, ceilings, and walls; polish surfaces.
• Wipe tabletops and equipment in food areas.
• Move cabinets and furniture as needed to clean areas.
• Clean interior glass, windows, and mirrors with soapy water and squeegees.
• Sweep walks, rake leaves, and perform seasonal tasks as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness of restrooms and comply with safety standards.
