Job summary

Kent State University is seeking a Custodial Worker for the Kent Campus. This internal opening supports KSU AFSCME employees with duties including floor care, cleaning, and routine maintenance across university facilities, under supervision.

The role requires ability to lift up to 75 pounds, operate cleaning equipment, and work flexible hours including evenings and weekends. First Aid/CPR/AED certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment for assigned positions.

Qualifications

• First Aid/CPR/AED certification must be obtained in first 30 days of employment for positions assigned to Recreational Services.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment (buffers, vacuums, etc.)
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
• Read, write, and follow instructions
• Work independently and with a team
• Provide excellent customer service
• Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Responsibilities

• Performs custodial duties to provide care, cleaning, and routine maintenance of buildings, furniture, and fixtures.
• Cleans floors, carpets, furniture, walls, glass, and fixtures using various cleaning methods and machines.
• Empties trash and recycling, maintains supply closet, and reports needs to supervisor.
• Maintains equipment and reports repairs; may train student employees.
• May perform room setup for events and clean in areas like restrooms and food service areas.
• Removes snow/ice and handles debris around buildings.
