Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University is seeking a Custodian to clean offices, laboratories, classrooms, and exterior areas, and to move furniture and equipment on the Homewood Campus.

Duties include sweeping, vacuuming, polishing floors, restocking supplies, reporting maintenance needs, and setting up rooms for meetings and events. Qualified applicants typically have a high school education and at least one year of experience; a valid driver's license is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent preferred.
• One year or more years of experience preferred.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to read labels on cleaning materials and products.
• Ability to operate large powered vacuums and cleaning equipment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Cleans, sweeps, vacuums, and polishes floors using several cleaning tools and equipment.
• Cleans identified areas with required cleaners and disinfectants.
• Cleans walls, windows, ceilings, doors; may use ladders or scaffolding.
• Replenishes towels, soap, toilet tissue, and supplies as required.
• Inspects building for issues and reports to supervisor.
• Removes trash and moves furniture or equipment as needed.
• Transports biohazard containers to designated areas and maintains cleanliness.
• Sets up and removes furniture for meetings and events.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
