Job summary

Healthcare Services Group, Inc. is seeking a School Custodial Manager in Training to develop leadership skills in environmental services. The role requires flexibility to work first and second shifts and travel among the five boroughs.

You will learn day porter, custodian and floor technician duties, mentor staff, and gain experience in payroll, staffing, coaching, and budgeting while supporting a busy campus environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 2 years of experience in environmental services with supervisory experience desired.
• Basic computer skills preferred.
• COVID-19 vaccination policies compliance as required by state, local, and/or customers.
• Ability to lift/carry and push/pull up to 50 pounds and work around cleaning products.
• Must provide a criminal background check.
• Must maintain a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Learn and perform day porter, custodian, and floor technician tasks while teaching others to operate various industrial cleaning and laundry equipment.
• Lead small groups of staff in cleaning and laundry tasks across varying shifts.
• Acquire knowledge of policies, procedures, and federal/state requirements to eventually manage custodial and floor care staff at a single site.
• Develop skills in payroll submission, staffing patterns, coaching, discipline, purchasing, and budgeting.
• Assist in staff training, quality control, and in-servicing.
• Utilize protective gear appropriately and maintain a professional demeanor.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
