Job summary

The UCLA Police Department is seeking a Crime and Intelligence Analyst to turn complex law enforcement data into actionable insights. You will perform intelligence and statistical analysis to detect emerging crime patterns, build predictive models, map activity, and synthesize data from regional databases to support investigations and patrol deployment.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years experience in crime analysis, intelligence analysis, or quantitative research analysis within a law enforcement, criminal justice, or college public safety environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Criminology, Criminal Justice, Statistics, Data Analytics, GIS, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to provide crime analysis for a university law enforcement agency servicing a diverse population.
• Working knowledge of statistical research methods and probability theory to predict crime patterns.
• Practical knowledge of crime analysis principles, tools, methods, and information sources.
• Experience with relational databases for data storage and report generation.
• Ability to formulate logical conclusions from data and communicate findings clearly.
• Strong written and verbal communication to interpret documents and build relations.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive law enforcement data.
• Knowledge of NCIC, CLETS, JDIC, NIBRS, and DOJ databases (Preferred).
• Experience with analytic software/tools such as ArcGIS, Crystal Reports, Excel, Access (Preferred).
• Knowledge of UCLA campus geography, policies, and procedures (Preferred).

• Develop predictive probability models and map criminal activity to inform operations.
• Synthesize data from regional databases for briefs to Investigations, Patrol, and command staff.
