Pellissippi State Community College seeks a Counselor or Licensed Counselor to provide direct counseling services to students, including individual and group counseling, walk-ins, and crisis intervention on campus. The role supports personal, academic, and career advising and collaborates with faculty and staff to advance campus mental health initiatives.

The position requires a Master’s degree in Counseling or related field with licensure eligibility.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Counseling, Counseling Psychology, Mental Health, Social Work or a related area.
• License eligibility is required and candidate must attain licensure within 4 years of employment to stay employed.
• Two years of experience in higher education, working with adults, and/or students in higher education setting.

Responsibilities

• Counsel students with personal or academic issues individually or in groups.
• Assist students with career decision-making, vocational goal-setting, and career and life planning.
• Plan, develop and implement workshops and seminars, and other outreach on campus as requested.
• Provide support for academic advising and retention programs.
• Provide short-term crisis intervention and referrals.
• Provide consultation and support for staff, faculty, and academic programs.
• Maintain information exchange with community agencies.
• Perform counseling-related administrative duties. Other duties as assigned to fulfill the strategic priorities and mission of the College.
